The Alaskan Malamute is a large breed of dog that was originally bred for its endurance & strength to haul heavy freight as a hound & sled dog. It is similar to other arctic breeds such as the the Siberian Husky, the Greenland Dog, the spitz, Canadian Eskimo Dog, husky , & the Samoyed.
